“From a young and reluctant crown prince to a mature man, family man and monarch”: King Frederick X of Denmark explains his motto and his life in the book “Word of the King”.
A few days after the change of throne, the new Danish king Frederik X surprisingly published a book. The Danish royal family announced this on their Instagram channel on Wednesday. There is also a quote from the book: “I am just the person I am. I will try to show this as King of Denmark.” The book is titled “Kongeord”. Literally translated it means “real word”.
The king means his motto, the Instagram post says. As announced by the publisher Politikens Forlag, King Frederik X explains in the book the considerations that underlie his motto. The king announced this for the first time on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace after the change of throne on Sunday: “United, committed, for the Kingdom of Denmark”.
King for a few days
The book is, among other things, about the history of Denmark and the life of the king “from a young and reluctant crown prince to a mature man, family man and monarch”, writes the publisher in a Facebook post. Author Jens Andersen wrote the thoughts of Frederik X.

Frederick's mother, Queen Margaret II, announced his abdication on New Year's Eve, after 52 years on the throne, and signed a corresponding declaration on Sunday. His eldest son, Frederik (55), became Denmark's new head of state at the time of signing.
