New Maldives Executive Appointed

Malé, November 17 (Prensa Latina) Mohamed Muizzu appointed his cabinet after taking office as President of the Maldives today in a ceremony with large popular participation and the presence of heads of state and dozens of foreign delegations.

The press emphasized that the new leadership, sworn in this Friday by the President of the Supreme Court, Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, has new personalities.

Mohamed Shafeeq, Moosa Zameer and Ali Ihusan were appointed as Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Homeland, Security and Technology respectively; while he was at the helm of the defense portfolio; housing, property and urban development; and Construction and Infrastructure are Ghassan Maumoon, Ali Haider and Abdulla Muthalib.

The areas of economic development and trade, health, tourism, education and sports are led by Mohamed Saeed, Abdulla Khaleel, Ibrahim Faisal, Ismail Shafeeu and Abdulla Rafiu.

Ahmed Usham will serve as Attorney General; Director of Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar; for higher education, Mariyam Mariya; for Islamic Affairs, Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed; for Youth Promotion and Information, Ibrahim Waheed; of agriculture, Aishath Rameela; and in the transport and aviation sector, Mohamed Ameen and Aishath Shiham.

As Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Ibrahim Toriq; for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, and for Language, Culture and Dhivedhi, a new department, Adam Naseer Ibrahim.
