New pitfalls for the Charlevoix GéoLAGON

A new tile fell on the Charlevoix GeoLAGON. Developers have to go back to the drawing board as the current construction project has some inconsistencies.

According to analyzes carried out by the legal advisors of the municipality of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, the current project does not comply with the urban planning regulations in force. Some planned uses related to the project’s “tourist residences” do not comply with the regulations of the target area.

“The municipality thanks the project promoter for the interest shown in the implementation of such a project in the area […]but stipulates that everything must be done in compliance with the applicable regulations,” explains the administration in a press release.

She also claims that the study was carried out “without regard” to the control measure taken by the MRC de Charlevoix in recent months, which in itself “represents an end to the inadmissibility of the project”.

In addition, the analysis shows that many elements of the project “that have not been considered so far” will ultimately have to be subjected to official scrutiny.

Attitude

When asked if this new information further complicates the implementation of the GéoLAGON, promoter Louis Massicotte says it’s more of a clarification.

“We had anticipated a return from the community and are pleased to be heading in a clear direction. […] We will therefore adjust the project to be more compliant. »

Mr Massicotte claims that this type of adjustment is “common” on large construction sites.

“Glad to see that short term accommodation and the Lagoon are allowed. We will easily adjust the question of tourist residences, ”he concludes.
