“We are speechless,” Mateea Petrescu, a spokeswoman for the two men, told a group of reporters, confirming the decision, which is valid for another 30 days.
According to the Romanian legal system, this pre-trial detention can be extended to a maximum of 180 days pending indictment.
The two thirty-somethings continue to deny the allegations against them.
According to the prosecutor’s office responsible for fighting organized crime (DIICOT), they are suspected in particular of having recruited “several victims, including minors” for the purpose of “sexual exploitation”.
They were tricked by the brothers into faking feelings for them before being forced into prostitution and producing porn films, prosecutors say.
Andrew Tate, a former British-American kickboxer who has millions of online subscribers and advocates masculinist theories, has been suspended from several social networks in the past for misogynistic comments.
His Twitter account, which now has 5.4 million subscribers, was restored when billionaire Elon Musk bought the social network. He coins his advice to men to help them get rich.
