The German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck has announced their presence New sanctions against Russia. “The sanctions of the latest package will not be the last,” he said on the sidelines of the conversation with his French colleague Bruno La Maire. Habeck explained that the two ministers had identified the points that should be included in an upcoming package of measures.
The European Union “must persuade China not to help Russia circumvent sanctions” and “use all its influence over Moscow to secure an immediate ceasefire and the safe evacuation of civilians,” European Parliament sources stressed on the eve of the EUChina summit.
Furthermore, according to the same sources, the summit should be an opportunity to remind Beijing of the role and responsibility it has in promoting global stability, given the importance of its economic relations with the EU and the US.
In response to the sanctions Moscow banned European leaders from entering Russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, according to reports from TASS. In addition, “we confirm that any further hostile action by the EU and its member states will inevitably meet with a harsh reaction,” the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
The US has also announced new sanctions against Moscow: The US Treasury Department has added 13 Russian individuals and various entities to its list. According to the US Treasury Department’s website, they affect the aerospace, marine and electronics sectors.
The US State Department reiterated a request for American citizens to leave Russia and Belarus immediately. “There is a risk that they will be stopped by the authorities because of their nationality,” said department spokesman Ned Price in a press conference.
