New Year's Day 2024 started with a bang.
The 135th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California – a sleepy and affluent suburb of Los Angeles – was star-studded on Monday.
This year's theme was “Celebrating a World of Music,” which gave the morning parade an international feel.
Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child performed in the opening number.
Also in attendance was David Archuleta, who was the runner-up on American Idol in 2008.

At 17, she was the youngest contestant to win American Idol
Cassadee Pope, who was the first female winner of “The Voice” in 2012, was also there.

Also on the theme is this year's Grand Marshal Audra McDonald, who has a rich Broadway career.
McDonald has won more Tony Awards for acting than any other actor.
She has also received two Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award.
Football star Tim Tebow was also seen throwing a football into the crowd.
Local artist Rush Davis from Los Angeles was also on the program.

Both the Hawai'i All State Marching Band, which previously performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Banda Municipal de Zarcero from Costa Rica performed.
The Downey Rose Float Associate float featured floral flamingos, while the Alhambra City float featured a purple dragon in honor of 2024, the Year of the Blue Dragon.
The San Diego Zoo's float, decorated with a roaring lion and tree-climbing kolas, paid homage to a number of their beloved animals.
The San Diego Zoo's 55-foot-long float took home this year's top prize.
