New York dog’s adoption post goes viral after animal shelter dubbed him a ‘fire-breathing demon’

A New York dog has become the subject of a viral Facebook post in which it touts its adoption status but describes it as a “fire-breathing dragon”.

The Niagara SPCA in Niagara County is looking for a home for Ralphie, a rescued French bulldog who isn’t exactly “man’s best friend.”

“Ralphie is a terror in a somewhat small package. What could go wrong with a 26 pound dog, right? I’m sure you’re thinking: My ankles will be fine. We caution to proceed at your own risk,” the nonprofit Animal Welfare Agency wrote.

According to her post, Ralphie, who is still available after his viral moment, is best suited to a home with the “mother of dragons” or an adult home with no other animals.

The post caught the attention of thousands of Facebook users, who may have been stopped when the agency said they couldn’t “sugar-coat” the animal’s behavior.

“Actually, we don’t have too many nice things to say, so we’re just going to come out with it,” the Niagara SPCA said in a post.

The post states that you might look at the pup and think he looks cute and innocent, but that’s just not true.

“At first glance he is a delightful, much sought-after pup. People should smash down our doors for him. We promise you that won’t be the case.”

The nonprofit says Ralphie seems to think that boundaries and rules don’t apply to him and that his “sweet face got him everything he wanted in his first home.”

The Niagara SPCA said his relationship with the first owner was “built on the premise that Ralphie was the boss”.

Ralphie was taken in to board and exercise but was re-housed.

The second time he was adopted, the French Bulldog came to the shelter because she didn’t get along with the other dogs in the shelter.

“After two weeks in this new home, he was turned over to us because he’s “annoying our older dog,” the nonprofit wrote in its post.

“What they actually meant was, Ralphie is a fire-breathing demon and will eat our dog, but hey, he’s only 26 pounds,” the post continued.

Where other animal rights organizations may have thrown in the towel at this point, the Niagara SPCA continued, doubling down on its not-so-positive narrative.

“A lot of people have held back on Ralphie’s less than desirable qualities, but we’ll tell you all about it. He’s a complete idiot – not even half. Everything is his,” they wrote.

“If you dare test his ability to own THE things, wrath will follow. If you show a moment of weakness, prepare to be taken advantage of. Sounds fun doesn’t it?’ the agency continued.

“The ideal home for Ralphie is the mother of dragons or an adult home, free from other animals, with an owner who will be quiet and strict with him and doesn’t put up with crap,” they wrote.

The Niagara SPCA only looks for serious inquiries without exception.

“No Takesy Backsies (kidding, obviously)” they wrote.

Organization officials told CNN Friday that Ralphie is still available.

Interested parties are encouraged to call the Niagara SPCA at (716) 731-4368, extension 301 “if you’re crazy enough.”

Since it was posted on Tuesday, the image has garnered nearly 2,000 likes and hundreds of shares.

Hundreds of people also commented on the post, some expressing interest while others shared their own personal stories about their “idiot” pets.

“Little Ralphie here sounds like Boba Fett reincarnated. We lost him to cancer the year before last. He wasn’t the easiest of dogs, he was certainly a dog that will test your patience, but he made life interesting and we loved him dearly,” one woman wrote.

“I would like to donate to his adoption fee. I’m bossy and too much for some people too, so he’s my soul animal a bit,” said another commenter.

“His face says he’s 0% sorry,” wrote another.
