New York Islanders head coach: Jonathan Roy is proud of his father Patrick Roy

Singer Jonathan Roy is proud of his father Patrick Roy, who was was named head coach of the New York Islanders on Saturday.

The 34-year-old artist wrote a message in English on Instagram: “I'm so proud of my dad and this new adventure that awaits him with the @ny_islanders… I guess I'll be watching hockey again.” His determination and will to win will be given to this group of people will certainly bring something special. Smash everything, Dad!”

The post generated more than 3,000 likes and more than 100 comments.

The former Montreal Canadiens star goaltender got off to a good start in this new challenge and his team won the first game he coached on Sunday.

Jonathan Roy will be on tour in the United States and will no doubt use his visit to catch an Islanders game. He will perform in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Washington, Durham, Atlanta, Nashville and Chicago from April 1-13, then returns home for a concert in Toronto on April 15.
