BREAKING NEWS: New York Jets wide receiver coach Miles Austin has been suspended by the NFL for a year after allegedly violating gambling rules, but is appealing the decision
The NFL has suspended New York Jets wide receiver coach Miles Austin for a year for allegedly violating the league’s gambling policy, according to multiple reports Friday night.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, there is no indication that Austin has bet on NFL games, but he appears to have done so on other sports, which is a violation of the NFL’s gambling policy.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Miles is appealing the decision.
Miles Austin, coach of the New York Jets, has been suspended for a year
A statement from Miles Austin’s attorney was reported by Mike Garafolo, saying, “The NFL has suspended Miles Austin for wagering from a legal mobile account on table games and non-NFL professional sports.
“Miles has not bet on any NFL game in violation of the NFL Personnel Gambling Policy.
“He has been fully cooperative with the NFL’s investigation. He is appealing his suspension.
The Jets lost 19-3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night and Miles didn’t practice in that game.
Miles is the second high-profile NFL suspension this year for gambling, after the Atlanta Falcons’ Calvin Ridley was suspended in March for betting on NFL games in 2021.
Ridley has been suspended for the entire 2022 season but has been sold to Jaguars during that time – which he will return to next year.
