The nine-year-old girl who was abducted from Moreau Lake State Park in upstate New York on Saturday has been found alive and safe after a search continued day and night. Charlotte Sena was in a closet in the mobile home of suspected kidnapper Craig Nelson Ross Jr., 47, the governor of New York said. Kathy Hochul.
The arrest of the kidnapper
The breakthrough in the investigation came Monday morning when Ross reportedly slipped a ransom note with his fingerprints into the Sena family mailbox. Investigators entered the fingerprints into their database and identified the fingerprints of Ross Jr., who had been arrested in Saratoga in 1999 on suspicion of driving under the influence. Investigators then managed to track down the suspect and handcuff him. They also found Charlotte, who was hiding in a closet.
The condition of the little girl
The little girl disappeared Saturday night while camping with her family at Moreau Lake State Park, and now Hochul said she was taken to the hospital for tests but appears to be “physically uninjured.” Ross was charged with first-degree kidnapping, has been arraigned and is in jail without the possibility of bail.
