New York MP Pat Fahi said her 25-year-old son had died of a rare cancer after battling the disease for 20 months.
Manhattan-based photographer and cameraman Brendan Fahi Beckett was diagnosed with mediastinal choriocarcinoma in June 2020.
He underwent numerous surgeries and treatments, including stem cell transplants, but unfortunately lost his battle with the disease on February 28 this year.
Beckett “was the light of our lives and we will miss him for the rest of our lives,” she wrote Twitter.

He announced in December 2020 that he would have to undergo “extensive surgery to remove mediastinal mass” and undergo stem cell transplants.

Many politicians and family friends posted their condolences on Fahy’s posts.
“Pat, your love for Brandon was so obvious every time we talked.” “Words can’t even express how sad I am for you,” wrote James Skufis, a New York senator.
“I am just sorry to hear that. I extend my deepest condolences to your family, “wrote Gothamist journalist John Campbell.
Former New York spokeswoman Aravella Simotas wrote: “Pat, I wish you and your family peace, comfort and courage during this time of great sorrow. I am really heartbroken for your loss, but know that Brendan’s beautiful soul will always live in your heart. May his memory be eternal.

He shared on his Facebook page in December 2020 that the disease affects only about 500 people a year
He was diagnosed with the disease in June 2020 and he learned in December 2020 that the cancer had spread to his brain
Beckett’s awakening and funeral will take place at St. Vincent de Paul in Albany on Friday from 15:00 to 16:00, and the funeral will follow on Saturday.
The 25-year-old revealed that he is battling cancer in December 2020.
“I have a large primary tumor in the mediastinum (chest), as well as nodules dotted around my lungs,” he wrote on Facebook. “I was lucky to be able to start chemotherapy within a week of my diagnosis, and the four cycles of chemotherapy I did initially were successful.”
He then announced that he would have to undergo “extensive surgery to remove the mediastinal mass” and undergo stem cell transplants.
“A lot of lesions were found to have spread to my brain,” he wrote at the time. “Many doctors said I was lucky enough to catch the disease early, and although there is no concrete evidence of what caused the pain to take me to the emergency room, I think it was my” again and again “relationship with running. Just before I was diagnosed, I ran up to six miles a day, and I believe that worsened my lungs enough to cause pain.
He was treated at the Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York.
