Newly single Lily James has described herself as a “streak relationship guy” and has claimed boys are “garbage” on dating app Hinge.
It comes just weeks after her reported split from her boyfriend of two years, who plays bass Michael Shuman, was revealed.
The actress, 33, appeared on The Capital Breakfast Show on Monday morning to open up about her dating life.
Hosts Roman Kemp and Sian Welby told Lily, “We talk about love life quite a bit on this show.”
Sian continued, “We do, and we have quite a laugh at our own past experiences that went horribly wrong. Your character Zoe is very unlucky in love. Can you relate to that, is there in your past when you leave I still cringe.

Lily then explained, “I cringe at most things I do. Yes, I was sort of a serial relationship guy, so I didn’t have any crazy dating histories, but I got hooked up with my buddies the other day and I was just desperate. I mean come on!
Roman asked: ‘What do you mean?’ to which Lily replied: ‘The boys, they were rubbish’
Sian then asked Lily, ‘What were some of the icks?’
Lily quipped, “I’m sure some of the girls are c*ap too, but men are worse. There’s a line in the movie where my character looks at this guy and he has a sentimental quote and she says “he’s fit enough that I miss the sentimental quote” meaning “every day is a new rainbow” but that would be a bit of a switch off for me.’
Sian noted that “sentimental quotes are out,” and Lily added, “Not at first glance at anyone, a little bit of banter, I sound like I’m on Love Island!”
It comes as Lily reportedly split from Michael after a two-year romance.
The couple ended their relationship after growing apart in recent months, claims The Sun.
The couple were first linked in February 2021 after they were spotted kissing outside a boutique hotel in Suffolk while she was filming What Does Love Have To Do With It?.
They then made their red carpet debut at the 2022 Oscars, where they looked loved-up.
A source told the publication, “Lily and Michael have been growing apart over the past few months and have now decided to end their relationship.
“They just didn’t make it as a couple, but they both wish each other the best for the future.”
Lily explained, “I cringe at most things I do. Yes, I was sort of a serial relationship guy, so I didn’t have any crazy dating histories, but I got hooked up with my buddies the other day and I was just desperate. I mean come on!’
The actress’ relationship with Michael initially came as a shock to fans of the couple, as Lily is known for her family-friendly roles in Downton Abbey, Cinderella and Mamma Mia.
Michael is now a member of Queens Of The Stone Age, the band notorious for nudity on stage and allegations of drug and alcohol abuse.
In August 2012, Lily sparked speculation that Michael had proposed when she walked out on Melrose Avenue, California, with a gold ring on her engagement finger.
However, a rep for Lily said of speculation about a proposal from Michael, “That’s 100% not true”.
The couple were first linked in 2021 after they were spotted kissing outside a boutique hotel.
The American star is said to have stayed at the hotel where Lily and the cast and crew filmed the film What’s Love Got To Do With It? was quarantined.
An eyewitness told the Chron at the time: “Lily’s driver showed up just after 9am, then she and Michael emerged from the hotel together a few minutes later. They laughed and joked and looked very happy together.”
In March 2021, the American rocker is said to be staying with her in her new £3million home in north London while she’s filming in the UK.
Lily was then spotted visiting Michael’s parents in April, Ira Shuman, a former executive producer for Walt Disney who has worked on films such as The Wedding Singer and Strange Days and Janet Shuman.
The Mamma Mia star has kept her private life private since she became the subject of worldwide scrutiny when pictures emerged showing her and actor Dominic West enjoying an al fresco lunch with their mutual agent Angharad Wood in October 2020.
