The Quebecer lost in the first round of qualifying at the Australian Open last January. Recently recovering from a serious shoulder injury, Bouchard finds himself back on the sidelines.

“Eugenie is currently having a small puncture in her knee. She didn’t play any matches [depuis les Internationaux d’Australie]explained Tennis Canada coach Sylvain Bruneau during his appearance on the podcast La dose.

“We were in contact last week, she told me about her intention to play in Mexico and then Indian Wells,” Bruneau continued.

Some WTA players will be in Monterrey from February 27th to March 5th, while the Indian Wells and Miami tournaments will take place in March.

“I met her many times in December, she explained to me that she is very motivated, that she wants to have a good year and return to a high level,” concluded the Tennis Canada coach, roughly 317th in the current ranking of the world.
