News – Ten billion euros for Ukrainian refugees

A global fundraising campaign for refugees from Ukraine has raised pledges totaling €10.1 billion. €9.1 billion has been pledged for the “Stand Up for Ukraine” campaign, and the EU Commission is providing a further €1 billion in conjunction with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The announcement was made by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Saturday in Warsaw.

So far, Austria has committed funds of 40 million euros. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this amount should be significantly increased.

According to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Germany is providing an additional €425 million in humanitarian and development aid to Ukraine and its neighboring countries. In addition, there would be 70 million euros in medical support. (dpa/pa)
