News that doesn’t make anyone younger: The Télétubbies’ “sun baby” is becoming a mother

The little girl who greeted the Télétubbies at the beginning of each episode with her laughing and curious little face is now 27 years old and is expecting her first child.

If the name Jessica Smith doesn’t mean anything to you, it’s because she was less than a year old when she was chosen to play “Baby Sunshine” in the popular children’s show Les Télétubbies, which aired from 1997 to 2001.

The young woman announced on her Instagram account on Tuesday that she is expecting a child with her partner Ricky Latham in January 2024.

People remember the “Sun Baby”

Jessica Smith’s on-screen career was limited to her role in Les Télétubbies, yet she notes that her face remained enshrined in the collective memory.

“I am overwhelmed by the amount of love I receive from people around the world. I received a lot of congratulations and congratulations for the future,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m still impressed by the number of people who have seen The Teletubbies,” she enthuses.

At 9 months it is difficult to concentrate

To ensure Jessica played her role as “Sunshine Baby” perfectly, her father had to be resourceful on set.

“To make me laugh during the recording, my dad waved a teddy bear behind the camera,” the mom-to-be said. “And to make me look down like I was watching the Teletubbies, my dad rolled a little car at my feet,” she remembers.
