It’s no secret that the Green Bay Packers will need to add several wide receivers this offseason, especially after trading Davante Adams. The Packers are expected by many to draft a wideout with one of their two first-round picks, but Green Bay is still working freehand.

On Thursday, the Packers agreed former No. 4 overall Sammy Watkins to a one-year, $4 million contract. via ESPN. Watkins spent the 2021 season with the Baltimore Ravens, catching 27 passes for 394 yards and one touchdown in 13 games played. While he has eight NFL seasons under his belt, Watkins is only 28 and still possesses the kind of outward speed that Aaron Rodgers could benefit from.

Watkins was selected by the Buffalo Bills in 2014 when he caught 65 passes for 982 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season. His second season would be his best, as Watkins caught 60 passes for a career-high 1,047 yards and a whopping nine touchdowns in just 13 games played. Traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, Watkins spent a season in LA before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Watkins only had eight touchdowns in three seasons with the Chiefs but got a Super Bowl ring to round out the 2019 campaign. In the postseason, he made a big impression for Kansas City, catching 14 passes for 288 yards and one touchdown in three playoff games.

Despite that signing, expect the Packers to go to a first-round wideout later this month. All five of our CBS Sports NFL Draft Experts took at least one receiver from Green Bay in the opening round. A few prospects the Packers are being taunted are Ohio State’s Chris Olave, USC’s Drake London, Arkansas’ Treylon Burks and Penn State’s Jahan Dotson.
