The signing follows Carter visiting the Chiefs on Friday.
BUT reporting from Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network says Carter’s new contract is for one year. According to FanSided reportthe deal is valued at $1.77 million.
Carter, 27, entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick for the Carolina Panthers in 2018. He is now signing his second contract with the NFL, having played in 65 Carolina games for a total of 178 tackles (88 solo), including 88 tackles last season alone. He became a first-line player in 2021, starting all 17 Panther games as linebacker for MIKE. But he can do a little bit of everything, which is in line with what defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo likes to see in his linebackers.
Carter has also been useful on special teams, where he has 27% of that division’s snaps in 2021. In each of the previous three seasons, he was on at least 57% of special team snaps.
