Knowing his future lay elsewhere now, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo agreed to a three-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to the NFL Network on Monday, the 31-year-old will be paid $67.5 million, including a $34 million guaranteed total. The marriage between the two parties will be official on Wednesday, at the start of the NFL’s new year.

Garoppolo has played the last six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, which will give Trey Lance and Brock Purdy a chance to compete for the No. 1 center position at next training camp. After leading Team California to a Super Bowl LIV appearance, “Jimmy G” struggled with medical problems in 2022 as a foot injury sustained in December ruined the remainder of his year.

The former New England Patriots completed 67.2% of his passes for 2,437 yards, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. Despite his absence, the Niners advanced to the National Conference Finals.

For their part, the Raiders have ended their association with quarterback Derek Carr, who will continue his career with the New Orleans Saints.
