Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke is part of the plans for the New England Patriots.
The footballer has signed a new contract with the NFL club. On Sunday, he re-shared a post from the @NFLCanada account on X about the topic.
Rourke joined the Pats last December after being claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Victoria native signed with the Florida team in January 2023 after a stellar 2022 season in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
However, Rourke was unable to make the Jags' training camp roster, but agreed to join their practice squad.

With the British Columbia Lions of the CFL, Rourke played 23 games in two seasons, including 11 as a starter. He completed 307 of the 406 passes he attempted, gaining 4,103 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also rushed for 415 yards and 12 majors with his legs.
During his final round in his country, he was named MVP of the Ambrosie Tour.
The Patriots are in the midst of a major shakeup after parting ways with head coach Bill Belichick. The latter had been in office since the 2000 season.
