Worries about the condition of the star player’s right leg shaped the team’s preparation for the most important clash of the year. Mahomes suffered a sprain in the playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars before coping with the pain on Jan. 29 in the NFL’s American Conference Finals against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 27-year-old quarterback and the Chiefs have spoken of steady progress over the past few days, but the MVP contender still has to undergo hours of daily treatments.
“I don’t think we’re going to be fixed until game day,” Mahomes admitted in a news conference on Wednesday, according to the ESPN network. I actually feel better. I can move better than last week or the week before. I am trying to continue receiving treatments to get as close to 100% as possible. [de santé] and then relying on the adrenaline so I can do a little bit more on the field.
Head coach Andy Reid noticed that too. According to the Chiefs pilot, his playmaker can do anything on the grass field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
“His ankle is fine. We had a short workout a few days ago and he was moving well. He can do almost anything, at least everything we asked him to do in the game plan,” he revealed.
Let’s hope for Mahomes that he regains full mobility because the Eagles have one of the toughest defensive formations in the NFL. They had 70 quarterback sacks in the regular season, 15 more than the second-ranked Chiefs.
