Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett is going through what no parent should be going through right now.
Soccer player Arrayah’s two-year-old daughter drowned in the swimming pool at the family’s Tampa home on Sunday morning. The area police department confirmed the tragedy to the Tampa Bay Times.
Authorities responded to an 911 call around 9:30 a.m. and the child was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police released a statement saying an investigation was ongoing, but it appears the incident was accidental.
“Today’s tragic news [dimanche] breaks the heart of all members of the Buccaneers family, the NFL team said in a letter shared on its social media. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family.”
Shaquil and Jordanna Barrett have three other children, Shaquil Jr., Braylon and Aaliyah. Little Arrayah was born just weeks after the “Bucs” won Super Bowl LV in February 2021.
