NFL Pools: Chasing Khalil Herbert

All fantasy football pundits agree: the number one casualty target for week four is running back Khalil Herbert.

On the Yahoo! platform, the Chicago Bears suit holder is available in 50% of the leagues. Last Sunday he used David Montgomery’s leg injury to show what wood he’s warming up with.

Herbert had 157 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, plus he caught two passes for 12 extra yards.

It is currently unknown how serious Montgomery’s injury is and if he will be able to play this week. That shouldn’t dampen Herbert’s popularity with pool players, though. The running back seems to fit better into the Bears’ offensive pattern, which will face the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and Washington Commanders in the next three weeks.

If Herbert slips through your fingers, here are some other options that should be available for waivers:

– Jamaal Williams, running back (available in 38% of Yahoo! leagues)

Since the start of the season, the Lions carrier has crossed the goal line four times despite finishing second to D’Andre Swift in Detroit.

However, he was injured on Sunday and could miss the next game, leaving all the space for Jamaal Williams.

– Alexander Mattison, running back (available in 45% of Yahoo! leagues)

Dalvin Cook dislocated his shoulder last week but will likely be in the Vikings backfield on Sunday when they play the New Orleans Saints.

Regardless, Alexander Mattison is an attractive option because Cook will eventually return to action and the stand-in still performs well when his number is called.

– Samaje Perine, Running Back (Available in 94% of Yahoo! leagues)

The Cincinnati Bengals will play a short week against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.

Samaje Perine could see a little more ground than usual if his club decide to protect Joe Mixon.

Here’s a player targeted for all other offensive positions as well:

– Zach Wilson, quarterback (available in 94% of Yahoo! leagues)

The New York Jets quarterback, who was injured in training camp, could soon be playing again.

The Big Apple Club are set to lose another season but have already shown some interesting elements in attack. Zach Wilson should be able to capitalize on that and pick up multiple points.

– Romeo Doubs, wide receiver (available in 73% of Yahoo! leagues)

Has Aaron Rodgers found his new favorite destination in Romeo Doubs? It’s too early to tell, but a pooler who takes this bet could be more than rewarded by the end of the campaign.

– Tyler Conklin, Tight End (available in 78% of Yahoo! leagues)

For the second straight week, the Jets tight end is one of our picks.

This means that Tyler Conklin’s valuation hasn’t gone down, and doesn’t expect to anytime soon. Last week he caught all eight throws that were sent to him for 84 yards.
