NFL: The curse of the cowboys continues

The San Francisco 49ers defeated arch-rival Dallas Cowboys 19-12 on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium.

The “Niners” reached the final of the National for the second year in a row, they had lowered the flag against the Los Angeles Rams the previous year. It was also the ninth time the 49ers and the Cowboys had a one-night stand. The Californian club has won the last three duels.

In today’s game, the San Francisco defense gave the Cowboys just two field goals in the second half. Running back Christian McCaffrey broke a 9-9 tie early in the fourth quarter with a 2-yard touchdown that ended a 10-play, 91-yard streak. Subsequently, Robbie Gould made his fourth finish of the game.

Seven points down and with three minutes to go, the Cowboys got the ball twice. However, they couldn’t outsmart the Niners’ defense and had to admit defeat.

The loss of running back Tony Pollard in the first half hurt the Texas team. Quarterback Prescott also threw two interceptions. Cowboys kicker Brett Maher, who missed four one-point conversions against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, had thwarted his only attempt to add a point to his club’s tally. However, the nightmare ended for him after he scored two field goals in the second half.

The 49ers are now looking for their first Super Bowl game since 2019. However, they must defeat the Eagles in the National Conference Finals next week in Philadelphia.
