Buffalo Bills
The Bills have been one of the favorites to win a Super Bowl for several years, but have not yet been able to live up to expectations. The team that faces the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday has made the playoffs 20 times since the AFC-NFC merger in 1970. However, the fans of the Buffalo club were heartbroken four times in a row during the last game of a season, as their team lost the Super Bowl duels between 1990 and 1993.

Detroit Lions
After many years of misery, the Lions finally have a competitive roster. They host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. If they win, they will play in the national final for the first time since 1991 and only the second time in their history. Detroit has never appeared in a Super Bowl game.

Houston Texans
The surprising Texans have reached the playoffs seven times since their founding in 2002. They never made it past the second round. The Houston team will look to remedy this situation by defeating the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday afternoon.

Arizona Cardinals
Founded in 1898, the Cardinals are the oldest team in the NFL. The team has only appeared in the postseason nine times since the inception of the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Cards played in Super Bowl XLIII (2008), but lost 27 to 23 to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Atlanta Falcons
The Georgia club has twice taken part in the finals of a season. The Falcons missed Super Bowl XXXIII (1998) against the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl LI (2016) against the New England Patriots. The second loss was historic as Atlanta led 28-3 in the third quarter. The Pats ultimately won 34-28 in overtime, marking the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.

Carolina Panthers
Like the Falcons, the Panthers have appeared in two Super Bowl games (2003 and 2015) without winning.

Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have made it to the finals three times (1981, 1988 and 2021) only to fall.

Cleveland Browns
Ohio fans don't have it easy in professional football. The Browns had won four championships before the merger. Since then, they have won just five games in a row in 13 playoff appearances. Cleveland has never been to a Super Bowl.

Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars' playoff run since their inception in 1995 has included four second-round appearances, no conference finals and no Super Bowl.

Los Angeles Chargers
Postseason success is rare for the Chargers, but they did make it to Super Bowl XXIX (1994). They lost to the San Francisco 49ers.

Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings' last championship came in 1969, a year before the merger. They defeated the Browns in the NFC grand final before losing to the Chiefs in Super Bowl IV. The Minnesota team then played for the Vince Lombardi Trophy three more times (1973, 1974 and 1976) without knowing the joy of victory.

Tennessee Titans
Whether it was the Houston Oilers or the Tennessee Titans, this franchise has never won major awards. The team has only played in one Super Bowl, against the Rams in 1999. This was the first year the organization became the Titans.
