American Damontre Moore has not made his mark on NFL history in any way, but he comes to the United States with the Alouettes with an experience that few current players at the Montreal club have. A guarantee of success? Not necessarily.
Shawn Lemon, Jamal Davis II, Avery Ellis, Almondo Sewell and Mustafa Johnson were the Americans deployed on the defensive line during the Alouettes’ recent 35-24 loss to the British Columbia Lions. They couldn’t put enough pressure on opposing quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. on Saturday while young Israel Antwine, who is struggling to establish himself in Montreal, is on the team.

At 30 years old, Moore inevitably brings with him internal competition, having played in the NFL for almost a decade, mostly in the uniform of the New York Giants, from 2013 to 2015. The defensive line player who stands 6 feet tall. 5 inches. and 260 pounds, played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 before taking his first steps in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts.
A native of Texas, Moore played a total of 66 games in the NFL, recording 97 defensive tackles and 11 sacks. Two additional players were brought in to add depth to a defensive unit decimated by injuries, namely Parnell Motley and Dishon McNary.
