Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy is asking National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman to review the sanction he received for his actions against Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
Sportsnet hockey expert Elliotte Friedman found out on Friday.

The 25-year-old ice hockey player was suspended for four games on Tuesday for a nasty hit in the previous day’s game. McAvoy hit Ekman-Larsson in the head in the blind spot and the Swede was shaken. He then returned to the locker room and did not play again. The wearer of the Bruins colors received a major penalty and a game-misconduct penalty.
Since this is a suspension of less than six games, the commissioner has the final say on the matter, rather than an independent arbitrator.
Last week, Bettman was involved in a similar situation. He decided to uphold the four-game suspension against Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson. This was due to a blow to the head inflicted on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine.
