Thanks to Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart, the guests took a 3-0 lead in the first half. The latter completed his hat trick by scoring the winning goal on the power play 2 minutes and 28 seconds after Drouin's equalizer.

The local hero's defeat continued thereafter, conceding three more goals without reply. Matthew Tkachuk (one goal and three assists) and Aleksander Barkov collected four points in their team's victory. Kevin Stenlund and Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored for the Panthers.

In addition to Drouin, Cale Makar, Josh Manson and Valeri Nichushkin provided the answer for the Avalanche.

Ivan Prosvetov was chased out at 28:50 minutes after allowing just a fourth goal on 13 shots. Alexandar Georgiev came on as a substitute, but he also gave up four times. For his part, Sergei Bobrovsky made 22 saves for the Panthers.

The Avalanche host the Boston Bruins on Monday. Paul Maurice's men will face the Blues in Saint-Louis on Tuesday.
