A few hours before the first game of the season, the Los Angeles Kings suffered a major blow as forward Viktor Arvidsson will be sidelined with a lower-body injury, the team’s head coach Todd McLellan announced.

He is also expected to miss the Carolina Hurricanes’ reception on Saturday, if not longer. Arvidsson is assessed daily.
This news will likely impact Phillip Danault, as the Swedish forward was on the same line as the former Montreal Canadiens in the team’s last preseason game.
Arvidsson has a long injury history, having never played a full 82-game season in his career. Last year, the 30-year-old scored 26 goals and 33 assists for 59 points.
