NHL: Johnny Gaudreau is going through difficult times

Like a difficult start to the season for the Columbus Blue Jackets, star Johnny Gaudreau is just about to cross the desert offensively.

Since October 24th, the former Calgary Flames have only three points (one goal and two assists) in 11 games. He only has six points total this year and the situation is starting to frustrate him, and rightly so.

“When you’ve played as long as I have… it’s still frustrating at times, but the more frustrated you are, the harder it is to get out of it,” he said in a statement on The Athletic’s website.

“That’s what’s expected of me [que je joue mieux]. I have a good contract to do something like that. I have to make sure I’m better in a situation like that, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

However, the one who signed a contract worth $68.2 million over seven seasons in the summer of 2022 does not want to be discouraged and is confident that he will eventually find the path to success.

“It will come,” he confided. I just have to hold on. I’ve experienced similar sequences before where the staging wasn’t there. You just have to hang in there and things will turn around.”

In the case of his head coach Pascal Vincent, the main thing is to ensure that his player does not lose self-confidence.

“He is a talented player. It didn’t just happen in the middle of the night, Vincent said. We want to make sure he keeps his confidence because if he loses his confidence we know he’s feeling the pressure.”

“It’s a bad start for him. […] But I am confident that everything will return to normal.”

This start to the season is a complete contrast to last year’s results, when he recorded 21 goals and 53 assists for 74 points in 80 games.
