NHL: Kings head coach is well in the saddle

Even though the Los Angeles Kings have not won a single round of the playoffs since winning the Stanley Cup in the spring of 2014, they have renewed their faith in head coach Todd McLellan.

Ice hockey expert for the Sportsnet network Elliotte Friedman reported on Thursday evening that the Californian organization had extended its cooperation with the pilot, who will begin his fifth season at the helm of the club, by one year. The same source stated that the new agreement was concluded “some time ago”.

McLellan will therefore hold the position until at least the end of the 2024-2025 season. After watching the Kings miss the playoffs in his first two years in Los Angeles, he led them back to the playoffs the next two years. However, his troops lost to the Edmonton Oilers in the first round each time.

The 56-year-old previously managed them and the San Jose Sharks and collected 575 wins in his career.
