NHL Michael Jordan could celebrate with Chris Chelios

NHL: Michael Jordan Could Join Chris Chelios for Celebration

The legendary Michael Jordan is expected to return to Chicago for a rare stint this Sunday.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the 61-year-old will be present at the United Center when the Chicago Blackhawks retire Chris Chelios' number 7 jersey. A ceremony will take place before the game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Jordan and Chelios became friends in the 1990s when Jordan won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. The hockey player wore the Blackhawks' colors from 1990 to 1999 after being acquired from the Montreal Canadiens in a deal involving Denis Savard.

“I will ask them to invite as many people as possible who have had an influence on me. Apparently, [Jordan] was a big part of my 90s,” Chelios said during a radio interview with WSCR-AM 670 on Wednesday.

“They will be there to support me,” added the former defender, who played 1,651 games in the National League. I've built up quite a large address book over the course of my career. It’s a final celebration and I want it to be fun.”

Jordan's presence would be quite notable considering the legendary basketball player was not present at the Bulls' Ring of Honor unveiling ceremony last month honoring the 1990s dynasty.
