NHL: Rasmus Dahlin hits the jackpot

Buffalo Sabers defenseman Rasmus Dahlin has agreed to a new eight-year contract worth a total of $88 million, an annual average of $11 million.

The National Hockey League (NHL) club announced this on Monday morning.

“I love the city. I like the team. I absolutely love everything,” the 23-year-old Swede said in a Sabers press release.

Dahlin’s new contract begins between 2024 and 2025. This year he ends a three-year contract worth $6 million per year.

The very first pick of the 2018 draft comes from his best career in the NHL. In 78 games in 2022-2023, he found the net 15 times and provided 58 assists for 73 points. This is the third most productive season for a defenseman in Buffalo franchise history.

“I know I’m biased, but I think he’s one of the best in the world at what he does,” Sabers general manager Kevyn Adams said last season. He has made enormous progress. I couldn’t be prouder of him, but I also know the effort he’s putting into this. I think he’s going to get even better.”
