NHL trade deadline tracker: Jets take on Vladislav Namestnikov, James van Riemsdyk sparks interest – Yahoo Sports

There has been no shortage of drama leading up to the 2023 NHL trade deadline, with more than 30 deals being struck in the past week alone.

Although most of the big names are off the board, including Patrick Kane, Jakob Chychrun, Timo Meier, Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko, there is still work to be done before the trade window closes as general managers across the league charge for a playoff run or to amass fortunes for the future.

Here’s a list of all the trades along with the latest news and rumors leading up to the 2023 NHL trade deadline.

Jame van Riemsdyk remains seated.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported before the deadline that the Flyers were selling van Riemsdyk to the Detroit Red Wings, but it appears the deal has fallen apart and the veteran winger will spend the final year of his contract in Philadelphia.

The Minnesote Wild Defense attorney John Klingberg reportedly acquired by the Anaheim Ducks.

The Buffalo Sabers have Forward Jordan reportedly acquired Greenway by the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a second-round pick in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2024.

Greenway is a huge, 6ft 6, 231lb forward who can engage offensively, although he hasn’t had much of that this season with just two goals and seven points in 45 games. He has scored double digit goals twice in his career (2021-22 and 2018-19) and reached the top in 2020-21 with 32 points.

The 26-year-old is signed for two more seasons with a $3 million cap hit.

Flames acquire Troy Stecher from Coyotes

The Calgary Flames have Defense attorney Troy reportedly acquired Stecher from the Arizona Coyotes.

The Minnesota Wild have Forward Oskar Sundqvist was reportedly acquired by the Detroit Red Wings for a fourth-round pick in 2023. The 28-year-old has seven goals and 21 points in 52 games this season. He is in the final year of his contract, which has a $2.75 million cap.

Maple Leafs trade Dryden Hunt for Flames

The Calgary Flames have Forward Dryden Hunt was reportedly acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Radim Zohorna.

Calgary will be Hunt’s fourth stop this season after brief stints in Toronto, Colorado and New York.

Penguins land Dmitry Kulikov from Ducks

The Pittsburgh Penguins have According to reports, defender Dmitry Kulikov acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Brock McGinn and a third-round pick.

Kulikov, 32, is a defensive back who averages 20:13 ice time per game on the NHL’s worst defensive team. He also has three goals and 15 points on the season and is in the final year of a contract that includes a $2.25 million cap hit.

McGinn was placed on waivers this week to make room for the cap. He earns $2.75 million and has two years left on his contract.

The Winnipeg Jets have Forward Vladislav Namestnikov has reportedly taken over from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick.

This is the second time Namestnikov has been traded this week as he was shipped from Tampa Bay to San Jose in exchange for Michael Eyssimont on Wednesday.

Namestnikov has six goals and 15 points in 57 games this season. The 30-year-old is making $2.5 million this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent. The Sharks previously withheld 50 percent of his salary, leaving Winnipeg on the hook for just $1.25 million.

The Kings and Flyers have Depth swapped forwardwith Brendan Lemiuex and a 2024 fifth-round pick heading to Philadelphia and Zack MacEwen heading the other way to Los Angeles.

Neither player will cause much offense – Lemieux has three points in 27 games, MacEwen has nine in 46 – but both offer physicality in a fourth-row role.

The move saves the Kings a little extra cap room, as MacEwen only makes $925,000 this season versus Lemieux’s $1.35 million.

The New Jersey Devils have Forward Curtis Lazar was reportedly acquired by the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick.

Lazar, 28, has three goals and five points in 45 games this season and has two more years on contract at a $1 million cap hit.

The Red Wings keep 50 percent of Vrana’s salary. The 27-year-old winger has a year left on his contract, capped at $5.25 million.

Vrana, a first-round pick by the Capitals in 2014, was hired by the Red Wings in January shortly after his return from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, which aims to provide players with treatment for mental health issues and substance abuse issues released to the Red Wings.

He has only played five games with the Red Wings this season, recording one goal and one assist. He had six goals and 11 points in 15 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL.

Penguins make the first move of the day

The Pittsburgh Penguins entered the NHL trade deadline in the middle of the night, reportedly acquiring forward Nick Bonino from the San Jose Sharks.

The deal was made official later in the afternoon when the Sharks received defenseman Arvid Henriksson, a conditional fifth-round pick in 2024 and a seventh-round pick in 2023. The Montreal Canadiens will retain 50 percent of Bonino’s contract in exchange for defenseman Tony Sund and a 2024 fifth-round pick.

Bonino, who won back-to-back Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh in 2016 and 2017, brings additional depth to the Penguins in the bottom six. The 34-year-old has 10 goals and 19 points in 59 games this season. He is in the last year of a two-year contract, which has a cap of $2.05 million.
