Nicaragua starts distributing school meals

Vice President Rosario Murillo announced the day before that more than 200,000 quintals of food made from rice, grains, beans, wheat flour and vegetable oil will be distributed.

During his daily address to the Sandinista media, Murillo reported that later in the year they have different distribution dates for the different phases of the school year, such as initial education, special primary education, remote modalities in the countryside and ordinary schools.

The Vice President thanked the respectful solidarity of organizations like the World Food Program (WFP) and countries that contribute from this initiative with the products of school lunches in this Central American nation.

As part of these donations, Nicaragua received a shipment of 196 tons of vegetable oil from Russia in mid-August 2022 to support the Nicaraguan government’s project.

A few months ago, Murillo described school lunches here as necessary because they contribute to the ability of students to learn in different educational modalities.
