Nicaraguan Foreign Minister met Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi last Sunday, where they agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral ties in the face of unilateral coercive measures by the US administration.

In this sense, Moncada later reiterated that relations between the two countries are friendly, inclusive and anti-imperialist, while affirming that Managua believes in “multilateral friendship and in peace, security and progress”.

Similarly, the High Diplomatic Representative of Nicaragua met with the Speaker of the Persian Parliament Mohamad Baqer-Qalibaf, at which they discussed strengthening ties on economic, agricultural, energy and technological issues.

Likewise, Moncada met with his Iranian counterpart, Hosein Amir Abdolahian, where a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement was signed to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.

At the invitation of the Persian President, the Foreign Minister attended the Third Dialogue Forum in Tehran, where he noted that “the United States of America and its hegemony are in sharp decline.”

Moncada pointed out that the system of international relations is moving towards the development of multilateralism and the consolidation of independent states.

Nicaragua and Iran officially established bilateral diplomatic relations in 1979. Since then, sanctions imposed by the White House have become a point of contact to strengthen ties.
