Nick Jonas says he and his wife Priyanka Chopra made their daughter Malti’s first birthday special as the baby spent his first 100 days in the NICU.
“We had to celebrate. She went through a pretty wild journey early in her life, and we thought we had to celebrate in style,” he told host Kelly Clarkson during an appearance on her talk show.
The Jonas Brothers star shared that they decided to throw a party “over the weekend” before Malti’s actual birthday on January 15.
As revealed last January, the couple’s surrogate gave birth 12 weeks early at a Los Angeles hospital, where Malti stayed until she was well enough to return home with her parents.

“She is a. She is beautiful. It’s amazing,” gushed Clarkson’s new dad.
He went on to call his little girl “the best” after Clarkson opened up about how “adorable” Malti is.
The Dallas, Texas native continued to gushed about his daughter and spoke about the responsibility that comes with being a father when asked if he’d made any New Year’s resolutions.
While he didn’t make any specific resolutions, Jonas admitted he has some “goals and ambitions” in mind for 2023, but none more important than being a father.
“There’s a lot on the personal front of being a new dad so that takes up most of my time,” he explained, to which the host joked, “Are you going to try to sleep this year.”

And while Chopra didn’t have any fertility issues preventing her from having a baby, the couple still chose to use a surrogate because she was 39 at the time and “it doesn’t get any easier,” a source told People in a Issue May 2022.
They finally made the decision to contact an agency when they found the right match, which was a woman in Southern California.
But even with the surrogate, complications arose when her daughter was born prematurely and ended up spending 100 days in the NICU.
After more than three months of stressful time and being there for each other, Malti Marie came home on time for Mother’s Day 2022.

“After over 100 days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home,” Jonas wrote in a candid Instagram post last May. “Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of trust, and while ours have been a challenging few months, looking back makes it abundantly clear how precious and perfect every moment is.”
The post also included a photo of the couple lovingly embracing Malti in their arms.
“We are over the moon that our little girl is finally home and just want to say thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and specialists at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles who have been selflessly there every step of the way. Our next chapter begins now and our baby really is a badass. Let’s get it M! Mom and Dad love you,” Jonas wrote at the end.
The couple had been together for around seven months when they married in December 2018, which was just over three years before Malti’s arrival.
