Nicky Minaj is taken to court over allegedly unpaid bills for bespoke jewelry… but her lawyer says she is not responsible and claims the jeweler is only using her for advertising.

The rapper is being sued by a West Hollywood jeweler who claims they loaned the rapper jewelry — a fairly standard transaction for celebs, but the jeweler claims some of those pieces were returned damaged… which isn’t normal.

According to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Nickis is a stylist Brett Alan Nelson signed a deal with the Roseark jewelry store, in which Roseark agreed to loan Nicki jewelry for a public appearance.

The shop claims the contract required Brett to return the jewelry within a week and pay for any damage the jewelry might suffer while in his care.

In the documents, Roseark alleges that Nicki’s stylist failed to return 66 pieces of jewelry by the agreed deadline, and that when Brett finally got to the piece of jewelry, there was significant damage to a pair of earrings and a leaf ring.

A source close to Nicki tells us everything was returned on time as promised and the shop only complained about a missing stone after the items had been in the jeweler’s possession for some time.

The jewelry store says they sent Brett invoices for the damage, which totaled $26,239.50 plus interest. The people at Roseark claim they have not received any money despite repeated collection attempts.

So Roseark sues Nicki and her stylist for the money… although it appears Nikki never had direct dealings with the jeweler.

Indeed, Nicki’s attorney, Jordan Sievtells TMZ … “We were not presented with any evidence that any of Nicki’s jewelry in question was damaged. This lawsuit appears to be nothing more than an ordinary jeweler’s insurance claim aimed at self-promotion and extracting a payment to which she is not entitled. We will vigorously defend the lawsuit.”
