A year after Russia invaded Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of victims, bitter fighting and resistance. propaganda and threats. Always on the verge of a world conflict. Nicolai Lilin, a writer of Russian-naturalized Italian descent, gave an interview to the online magazine “Mowmag.com” and again interpreted the conflict differently than in the West: “As for the question of attacking other countries, that’s a different Western vision of our own. For us, Ukraine is rightly a country like any other. For Russians, however, it’s part of Russia.”
According to Lilin, right-wing voters, who are more sensitive to patriotism and appeal to traditional values, feel betrayed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s Atlanticism and will not get the same votes in the next election: “She first supported Putin, then power and had to hold a 360 -degree turn, and I would even say a 90 degree turn before America, and so now we have someone doing his job in the interest of those in power. But I also respect her, she is the first female prime minister. But I wouldn’t want to be in his place. I can’t imagine the strain she must be under. In terms of cold analysis, he makes enormous mistakes, but everyone in the Anglo-Saxon-led camp makes them.
The author explained in detail why Putin distinguishes the “Nazi government” of Kiev from the “Ukrainian people”: “When we talk about the Ukrainian people, even we Westerners get confused. Which ones do we help? The one from the east, from Donbass? Or that of the central areas, which lies between two fires? Or the one in the West who dreams of becoming a European?”.
Nicola Lilin reiterated that the war in Ukraine is the fault of the Kiev governments, which are incapable of dealing with internal multi-ethnicity: “The fact that the Ukrainian government massacred its own people in Donbass from 2014 to now has been recognized by the Russians seen and by Putin is interpreted through their vision of history – he told Mowmag -. Biden, on the other hand, spoke neither to us Westerners nor to the Ukrainians in Ukraine, but to the Chinese. He made it clear to them that they must not commit themselves to a peaceful solution: the war must continue until the United States’ goals are achieved.
