Nikki Haley officially announced Tuesday morning that she is running for president in 2024.

This makes the former ambassador to the United Nations Donald Trump’s first challenger in the Republican presidential primary.

‘Be excited! Time for a new generation,” the former South Carolina governor said in her first campaign video posted to Twitter on Tuesday.

The announcement comes as Haley prepares to hold her first official campaign event Wednesday in the capital of her home state of Columbia, South Carolina.

Haley opens the three and a half minute video about growing up in a segregated city.

“I was the proud daughter of Indian immigrants – not black, not white. I was different,” she says.

She condemned the idea that America is inherently “wrong” or “racist” because of its history.

“Some look to our past as evidence that America’s founding principles are bad,” Haley noted. “They say the promise of freedom is only made up. Some think our ideas are not only wrong, but racist and evil. Nothing is further from the truth.’

“Even on our worst day, we are blessed to live in America,” she added, before noting her accomplishments as South Carolina’s governor.

By announcing her candidacy early, Haley could build early support in some key nomination states like Iowa, New Hampshire and her home state of South Carolina — all early primary states.

While no other candidates have officially launched their 2024 campaigns, there are dozens who have either spoken out about their intention and others who are rumored to be considering an offer.

Just moments after announcing her candidacy, Trump posted on his Truth Social account boasting about beating Republicans and President Joe Biden in recent polls for the 2024 presidential election.

He claimed that Biden and RINOs — or Republicans in name only — are trying to “damage” him through litigation so he doesn’t win a second term in the White House, but didn’t want it to work.

“Doing great in the polls,” Trump praised in his Truth post. “Leading all Republicans by a wide margin, also leading Biden by a very wide margin, which means our armed Injustice Division, local prosecutors and attorneys general will step up their illegal and unprecedented assault to belittle me with a fake cop….’ and statements in hopes that I will take enough damage for a RINO or Biden to “slip through the cracks.”

“But be careful,” he warned, “the American people understand and don’t like what they see. LIKE!!!’
