Nine people were killed in a petrol station explosion in Creeslough, County Donegal, Ireland on Friday afternoon. The explosion happened shortly after 3 p.m.: it completely destroyed the gas station, a building and part of an apartment building not far away. At first it seemed like there were three dead, but on Saturday morning rescuers recovered six more bodies. Eight people were hospitalized, some in serious condition. Irish police are working to understand the causes of the blast.
Creeslough is a small town of 400 people about 15 miles from Letterkenny and 30 miles from the Northern Ireland border.
