The group assured that these various defects had not led to any accidents in Japan. They refer to units of the Note, Note Aura, Serena, Kicks and its Leaf electric car models.
A total of 699,000 units of these models are affected in the country and many of them are affected by several defects at the same time, a spokeswoman for the group told AFP.
Specifically, in Japan, Nissan has recalled 484,025 units of its Note, Serena and Kicks models due to insufficient protection of the engine pipes, which damages these shrouds and prevents the vehicle from starting.
Nissan has also recalled 478,199 Note, Note Aura, Kicks and Leaf units across the archipelago because an electronic control program can, under certain circumstances, cause vehicles to accelerate after they stop using cruise control.
The group also recalled 126,000 Serena due to a wiring issue and 6,434 Note Aura due to a right front headlight issue.
At least 749,000 vehicles are also affected by recalls in their respective markets abroad, according to the spokesman, who was unable to give more precise figures.
