Chopper 2’s video showed a bird’s-eye view of the two hanging trains while crews worked to repair the power lines.

NJ TRANSIT said two train cars full of people were stranded at Chatham station around 8am

Owing to the problems with the overhead contact line at Maplewood, operations have resumed on the Morris and Essex lines and the Gladstone branch with limited operations in both directions.

Some commuters didn’t realize there was a problem until they got to the station.

“I got here early as usual and someone just told me my train was canceled today,” commuter Jay Scher said. “Every time it seems like there is something else here. I’m just trying to get to work, so I guess I’ll take a bus.”

Train tickets and passes have been accepted by bus and private companies NJ TRANSIT and the Newark Light Rail.

Operations on both lines resumed around 2:40 p.m
