To date, no platform has been announced for the release of the Indiana Jones game, which we still know too little about. However, as part of the litigation between the FTC and Microsoft, Microsoft confirmed that the game would be exclusive to Xbox and PC.
Another Xbox exclusive from Bethesda
Following Redfall and Starfield earlier in the school year, Bethesda has just officially unveiled a new Xbox and PC exclusive, Indiana Jones.
Indiana Jones, developed by Machine Games, was announced in January 2021 in a very short video. We don’t know anything about the game, except that according to Todd Howard, the game’s executive producer, the title would be a love letter to the famous series.
“I would just say it’s a mash-up. It’s a unique game, it’s not intentionally one thing, so it does a lot of different things.”
It’s a true love letter to Indiana Jones.
In connection with the ongoing hearings between Microsoft and the FTC, Pete Hines, director of publishing at Bethesda, dropped the article. Yes, Indiana Jones is indeed an Xbox and PC exclusive and will be released directly to Xbox Game Pass.
Specifically, the FTC attorney announced that Disney entered into a multi-console deal and that after Microsoft acquired Bethesda, the agreement was modified to only cover Xbox consoles.
According to Pete Hines, concentrating the game’s development on a single console would save development time, although licensee Lucasfilm would certainly have plenty of comments and feedback to adapt the game to the films.
Last March, we learned from Arkane that Redfall was also planned for PS5 before Microsoft acquired Bethesda.
