Women should avoid makeup that hides their natural beauty and prevents them from being themselves because appearances are often deceiving.
This is what the Équilibre organization recommends, which celebrates No Makeup Day by urging us to reflect on the importance society attaches to appearance.
“In a world where there is very little diversity in the beauty models that are placed, it’s normal to feel a lot of pressure to conform,” the organization lamented.
A study cited by Équilibre shows that 27% of teenagers aged 14 to 17 find it acceptable to change their photos and appearance on social media.
Among young adults (18-34 years old), 22% agree, which sheds light on the importance of self-esteem and body satisfaction.
The organization is particularly concerned about the use of filters and photo editing applications using computer software.
This approach is based on the desire to give a better picture of yourself and your body, as if you were entering a beauty pageant.
However, according to Équilibre, the retouched content has health, self-esteem and well-being implications, encouraging people to just be themselves.
