Damian Lillard has been with the Portland Trail Blazers since 2012 and the future Hall of Famer wants to stay with the team.
The Portland Trail Blazers were one of the teams the league had its eyes on, particularly with regard to Damian Lillard.
Teams are waiting to see if they get a chance to take on Lillard should he ask for a trade, but the Blazers point guard has consistently expressed his loyalty to Portland, even if many believe he should look elsewhere for a better one Seeking an opportunity to win a championship.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reiterated this in an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“Damian Lillard left everything to Portland,” Charania said. “He wants to be there and he wants the team to get better.”
A big part of Lillard’s future could depend on what the Blazers do with the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. Portland made the pick and are hoping to enlist a veteran who will help Lillard and the Blazers win faster, but as of the week leading up to the draft, the No. 3 pick still belonged in the Pacific Northwest.
Wouldn’t the Blazers have an issue picking up Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller if a trade didn’t go through? Secure. But Lillard has tasked the Blazers with improving the team so they have a chance and win it all in the postseason. It’s the least the Blazers can do considering what Lillard has done for them.
