A video posted on TikTok showing an American delivery woman having a tense exchange with a couple who didn’t tip her for a hundreds-of-dollar grocery order has gone viral.
In the video, the delivery woman advocates the importance of tipping considering how much effort she put into delivering the order, worth a total of US$400 (CAN$540).
Customers, in turn, defend the principle that tipping is voluntary.
“You should see how much work this is and understand that I should get a tip,” says the delivery person.
“No, you don’t deserve a tip,” replies the customer immediately, who doesn’t want to give in and also tells him that she’s “crushing the noodles.”
The main victim denies this claim and then shrugs her shoulders: “Anyway, these noodles are no longer for you,” she replies, determined to return the entire order to the supermarket.
“I had to pack it all in my car, bring it to you and unpack it. You didn’t pay me. “You paid for the delivery app,” she continues to argue.
The video was viewed 1.5 million times and sparked a lively debate among Internet users.
“No tip? I would have left too! I’m with the delivery girl.”
“$400 and they didn’t tip! Terrible!”
“Tipping is optional.”
“The tipping culture is out of control.”
