The winners may have already been revealed accidentally and prematurely.
These years Nobel Prize in Chemistry goes to scientists working in the US Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Yekimov (alternative spelling Ekimov) for the discovery and making of quantum dots. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm announced this on Wednesday, after information about the prize winners had already circulated in the Swedish media.
This year the prize is worth eleven million Swedish kronor (around 930 thousand euros), one million kroner more than last year. The prize is traditionally awarded on December 10, the anniversary of founder Alfred Nobel’s death.
At the last year The award went to two North American researchers Carolyn R. Bertozzi and Barry Sharpless and their Danish colleague Morten Meldal. They have been recognized “for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry” and by academia as an “ingenious tool for building molecules”. For Sharpless it was the second Nobel Prize in Chemistry after 2001.

Mail faux pas: the winner was leaked beforehand
According to Swedish media reports, the winners of this year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry may have accidentally been revealed prematurely. As several Swedish media outlets unanimously reported on Wednesday, the Names of award winners in a press release emailed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (KVA) this morning – four hours before the actual announcement.
Members of the academy told several Swedish media this morning that it was an oversight and that a decision had not yet been made on the winners. When asked, the academy spokeswoman said: “The academy has not yet made a decision.”

The announcement said that three researchers would receive the 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.” They were those three researchers who worked in the USA Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus and Alexei I. Ekimov, reported, among others, the radio station SVT and the newspapers “Dagens Nyheter” and “Aftonbladet”. You have now truly been awarded.
The winners of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry were officially announced in Wednesday at 11:45 am announced at KVA. Previously, the committee responsible for the Nobel meets at the Academy to discuss various candidates and then make a joint decision on the prize winners. Who will receive the Nobel Prizes is always kept secret before they are announced in all award categories.
