Last Thursday, on his first day as head of state, Noboa confirmed Gabriela Sommerfeld as chancellor; Mónica Palencia in the Government Ministry; Sonsoles García as Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries; Giancarlo Loffredo at the head of the defense department; and Roberto Luque in Transportation and Public Works.
In addition, Franklin Palacios will become Minister of Agriculture and Livestock; Andrea Arrobo will lead energy and mining; Sade Fritschi will be responsible for environment, water and ecological change; Niels Olsen, who was head of the tourism department in the previous government, will remain in office.
On this day, Humberto Plaza also received official appointments to lead urban development and housing; Daniel Calderón for the Ministry of Education; Labour’s Ivonne Núñez; Romina Muñoz for culture and Zaida Rovira for economic and social integration.
The newly inaugurated ruler appointed Mishel Mancheno as Legal Secretary of the Presidency and Sariha Moya as Head of the National Planning Secretariat, while Roberto Izurieta will take over the General Secretariat for Communications.
For his part, Arturo Félix will act as Secretary of Public Administration and Gabriela Ochoa Ochoa as Director of the National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae).
