Earlier this year, Damon Albarn made the (factually false) claim that Taylor Swift doesn’t write her own songs. Back then we joked that Blur and Oasis were past their confrontation and Albarn is now entering a new era of beef with pop stars. But it turns out a Gallagher has entered the ring, and this time Blur and Oasis once again battle who has the worst attitude towards mainstream pop artists.
In an interview with the Daily Star (via Yahoo!), Noel Gallagher railed against The X Factor being meaningless in the grand scheme of the music industry, saying: “The X Factor is a TV show, it’s not about music, that’s it has nothing to do with music at all, and what has become of it has nothing to do with music.”
But what could have been left as a criticism of The X Factor became yet another inaccurate interpretation of a great musician: Harry Styles. The singer, who got his start on The X Factor when Simon Cowell got the cast members to team up to create One Direction, is the highest-grossing artist whose career was launched by reality competition.
Though Styles has proven he’s got more to offer than just being a former boy bander, Gallagher isn’t convinced. “You’re not telling me that Harry Styles is in a room somewhere right now writing a song,” he says. “With every joy he will be surrounded by many girls.”
He adds, “I can assure you he doesn’t have an acoustic guitar trying to write a middle eight for anything.”

Gallagher seems to have conveniently forgotten that Styles has songwriting credits for everything he’s done since One Direction (he mostly shares songwriting duties with frequent collaborators Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson) and is in total control of his music . Styles also has several songwriting credits from his time with One Direction.
It’s also not the first time the former Oasis member has criticized Styles. As reported by NME, Gallagher previously went to Absolute Radio and said his cat could have written Style’s hit “Sign Of The Times” “in about 10 minutes.”
Things got bad enough for Albarn that he had to apologize to Taylor Swift after she called him about his wrong attitude and thousands of her fans attacked him on Twitter. Though Styles has yet to call Gallagher to his words, he has to log off from Twitter for the day. You don’t want to mess with the Stans of Styles.
