- About 250 meters of Nord Stream 1 was destroyed.
- The information was released by the operating company.
According to the operating company, a pipe of the Nord Stream 1 Baltic Sea gas pipeline was destroyed over a length of about 250 meters. According to preliminary investigation results, there are two craters on the seafloor, each three to five meters deep, Nord Stream AG announced on Wednesday. They are therefore about 248 meters apart. The line 1 section of the double line in the middle was destroyed. The debris was scattered in a radius of at least 250 meters.
According to Nord Stream AG, the announcement was preceded by the first investigations of Line 1 in the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Four leaks discovered in Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines
In late September, four leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines were discovered after explosions near the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, two of them in the exclusive economic zones of Denmark and Sweden. The EU and NATO, among others, take on the sabotage. Both double strands run from Russia to Lubmin in northeastern Germany.
Nord Stream AG announced investigations into the Swedish EEZ last week. It therefore lacked the approval of the authorities to assess the damage in the Danish EEZ. © dpa
